What is counselling and who is it for?
At times in our lives we may find we are not coping as well as we were and notice this may be having an impact on our quality of life. There can be many reasons for this such as a bereavement, family circumstances, relationships, work, a traumatic experience or just everyday life. It is at this point we realise we may need some extra support.
Sometimes it can help to talk with someone who offers a safe place to tell your story. Counselling can help you become more aware of your thoughts and how these have an impact on your feelings and how they affect your behaviours. We will talk through the underlying causes of emotions, feelings or pain you may be experiencing in daily life. As you get to know yourself better you can then explore ways of bringing about change to help you live a more fulfilling life.
Counselling can be short term where there is a specific issue that you want to work through or it may be long term where we work on a number of issues and go a little deeper.
